Our team specializes in civil site design, grading, drainage analysis, detention pond design, and permitting. We are looking for a skilled Land Development Engineer to lead and execute on our client's land development projects with efficiency and precision.

Position Overview:
The Land Development Engineer will work closely with the CAD team to ensure seamless coordination and collaboration on project deliverables. The engineer will work directly with a managing engineer who will conduct weekly check-ins and review drawings. It is the engineer’s responsibility to actively monitor and follow up on project tasks, ensure progress is maintained, and provide timely updates to clients. This role requires initiative, accountability, and the ability to manage workload independently while working collaboratively with others.

Salary Range: $70,000-80,000, depending on experience

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation of preliminary and final site development plans for commercial, industrial, and residential projects.
  • Perform site grading, drainage analysis, and detention pond design in compliance with local and state regulations.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and related software to develop site plans and construction drawings.
  • Ensure design compliance with standards and manuals for the City of Houston, Harris County, Montgomery County, Waller County, Fort Bend County, and other applicable jurisdictions.
  • Assist with permit applications and submittals to local regulatory agencies.
  • Participate in site feasibility studies and develop stormwater management plans.
  • Coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, permit runners and municipalities throughout project phases.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in land development engineering; 5+ preferred.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is required.
  • Solid understanding of site grading, drainage, and detention pond design.
  • Familiarity with local design standards (City of Houston, Harris County, etc.).
  • Experience with land development permitting processes.
  • Knowledge of stormwater management practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Word and Excel.
  • HEC-RAS experience is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Experience coordinating with municipalities and regulatory agencies.
